Acquisition
of the company
1991
Frank Herburg, who later founded the company, began producing optical spheres and lenses at “Feinoptische Werkstätten Gerhard Curdt GmbH” after the German reunification.
1995
Frank Herburg is appointed as Operations Manager of Feinoptische Werkstätten Gerhard Curdt GmbH.
1996
The later co-founder Uta Herburg takes over the accounting at Gerhard Curdt GmbH.
1998
Frank and Uta Herburg acquire the business, at that time with 6 employees in Obernjesa.
2000
The company is renamed to “Feinoptik Herburg GmbH”, Uta Herburg is appointed as Managing Director and the company moves to a larger production facility in Obernjesa. The team grows to 12 employees.
2006
The current production facility in Wüstheuterode (Thuringia) is being newly constructed with a total of 20 employees
2008
The manufacturing depth for spheres and plano-convex lenses is increased by two CNC-controlled centering machines from Satisloh.
2019
Production is expanded with an extension for the centering department, equipped with 10 CNC-controlled centering machines and a team of 40 employees in total.
2022
Philipp Herburg is appointed as Managing Director of Feinoptik Herburg GmbH.
